About shade accuracy
- Where shade colours come from
- Shade depth and colour come from retailer swatch images and are a digital approximation.
- Where undertones come from
- Undertone comes from the retailer’s shade description, or from the swatch colour where the retailer gives none. Those are marked .
- Your undertone
- Wrist veins, how your skin reacts to the sun, and silver or gold jewellery each point to cool, neutral, warm or olive. How to tell your undertone is under the undertone question.
- How matches are ranked
- Shades are ordered by how close they sit to the depth and undertone you chose, weighted 60% depth and 40% undertone. Price is shown and never changes the order. Your skin is described, not measured, so no percentage is shown. 2 ranges have no measured shade depth and cannot be matched.
- Before you buy
- Screens, lighting, application and oxidation all change how a foundation looks on skin. Use the result as a starting shade and check it on your skin before you buy. How scoring and confidence work.
